Privacy and Safety FAQs

How does Safe Stays protect the identity of survivors and vulnerable individuals?

We offer a multi-layered approach to privacy to ensure guest safety and agency discretion:

  • Alias Approved Network: We have established exclusive Alias Approved agreements with over 4,000 hotels nationwide. For these stays, the Safe Stays platform generates an alias at the time of booking, allowing the guest to check in without providing a legal name or ID. To help you track which client you've placed, our platform includes a "Guest ID" field. Your team can use an internal code or identifier to manage bookings without disclosing a client’s identity to Safe Stays or the hotel.

  • Agency Anonymity: Hotels are not told which specific agency is booking a stay. Because we partner with over 900 diverse social service organizations, the hotel remains unaware of the guest’s specific circumstances. They are simply instructed to waive credit card and ID requirements (for Alias Approved stays) and treat the guest with the highest level of respect.
  • Data Retention: We enforce a 120-day data retention policy. After this period, all identifying information tied to a stay is deleted or anonymized.

Is Safe Stays HIPAA compliant?

Safe Stays is used by HIPAA compliant healthcare providers nationwide. While we are not inherently HIPAA compliant, agencies governed by HIPAA, VAWA, or other privacy requirements can implement policies and procedures that align with their requirements.

Additionally, Safe Stays and the larger ReloShare team takes privacy very seriously. You can learn more about our commitments to data privacy here.
