Safe Stays Credits

Safe Stays Credits make it easy for your agency — and your supporters — to fund hotel stays for clients in need.

You can add credits to your Safe Stays account in two ways:

  • 💳 Prepaid Credits: Purchased directly by your agency.

  • 🎁 Gift Credits: Purchased by your supporters through your agency’s public credits page.

Credits never expire, so they’ll always be there when you need them. You decide when to apply them to an invoice.

💳 Prepaid Credits

If your agency would like to pre-fund future hotel stays, prepaid credits are a great option. Whether you’re wrapping up a fiscal year with leftover funds or have new grant dollars to allocate, prepaid credits help you reserve those funds for client stays so you’re ready to respond quickly when housing needs arise.

👉 Complete this form to start the prepaid credits process.

Once purchased, the credits are added to your Safe Stays account and can be used toward any future invoice.

🎁 Gift Credits

Gift Credits make it easy for your community to support your mission. When someone purchases credits through your agency’s public Safe Stays credits page, those funds are deposited directly into your account — no extra steps required!

👉 Sign up here to create your agency’s gift credits page.

💡 Pro tip: Many agencies share their credits page on social media, in newsletters, or during giving campaigns — it’s a simple way for supporters to make a direct impact.

🧾 Tax & Accounting FAQs

Do agencies receive a tax credit for purchasing prepaid credits?

No. Purchasing prepaid credits is similar to prepaying for hotel stays. It’s considered a regular business expense and is not tax-deductible.

Can donors receive a tax deduction for purchasing gift credits?

When a supporter buys gift credits through your page, they’re purchasing service credits — not making a donation to a nonprofit. Because of that, the transaction is not tax-deductible through ReloShare or Safe Stays.

If your agency is a registered 501(c)(3), you can choose to treat these as in-kind donations.
In that case:

  • Your agency acknowledges the gift directly with the supporter.

  • Safe Stays cannot issue a tax receipt or donation letter.

  • The supporter should consult a tax professional to determine if their contribution qualifies for a deduction.

💬 Tip: If your agency plans to treat gift credits as in-kind donations, consider noting that on your page so supporters know how it works.

⏳ Expiration & Refunds

  • Expiration: Credits never expire — use them whenever you’re ready.

  • Refunds: Credits are non-refundable once purchased.
